DA leader John Steenhuisen has posted a letter, allegedly from President Cyril Ramaphosa, asking for the number of available soldiers in the Covid-19 fight to be increased exponentially –

The letter states that an additional 73 180 members of the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) must be made available –

Ramaphosa said the additional members will be employed until 26 June 2020.

DA leader, John Steenhuisen, has posted a letter addressed to MP Cyril Xaba from President Cyril Ramaphosa. The contents of the letter state that 73 180 more soldiers will be deployed to assist in police in the Covid-19 fight, at a cost of cost of almost R5 billion.

The soldiers will be deployed until 26 June, 2020. The letter states, “On 25 March 2020, I authorised the employment of 2820 members of the SANDF for a service in co-operation with the South Africa Police Service (SAPS).

I have decided to employ an additional 73 180 members of the SANDF, consisting of Regular Force, Reserve Force and Auxillary Force.

The revised expenditure expected to be incurred for the employment of members of the SANDF is R 4,590,393,940.00.”

People are worried that this deployment of extra soldiers until the end of June could mean that lockdown will be extended until that time.

One tweep wrote, “John, we cannot allow them to carry on with these ridiculous lockdown rules (that) are destroying the economy. By June, there will be nothing left.”

The country is currently in lockdown until the end of April, following a two-week extension. This evening, President Ramaphosa announced grant increases and other relief measures that are designed to help struggling citizens and businesses.

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed South Africans on Tuesday evening –

The challenges of keeping the nation under lockdown have been increasing almost daily – Between food shortages and civil unrest.

Ramaphosa shed light on the way forward amid these difficult times.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a R500 billion social and economic support package, amounting to around 10% of South Africa’s GDP. An economic strategy will be implemented to drive the economy as the nation emerges from the pandemic, including substantial infrastructure plans and other interventions.

After meeting with numerous stakeholders, Ramaphosa announced an ‘extraordinary’ support budget for healthcare in light of the pandemic. R130 billion will be diverted to help support to effort to fight the virus, with other funding sources to aid SA to overcome.

Protective gear for health workers and an increase in the number of hospital beds and ventilators will be a priority.

Citizens who receive SASSA child support grants will now be receiving an additional R300 in May as well as an additional R500 each month until October.

Other grant beneficiaries will be receiving an additional R250 a month over the course of the next 6 months.

Citizens who are unemployed and aren’t receiving any other social grants will also be able to apply for a R350 monthly grant for the next six months as part of a specialised Covid-19 response.

Vouchers and cash transfers will be implemented to ensure the vulnerable are able to access help during this trying time.

Food parcels will be distributed by the Solidarity Fund in the coming days. Businesses will be bolstered by the government in an attempt to limit the loss of jobs, with the tax threshold increased to help relieve some pressure.

The reopening of the economy will be taking place in a phased approached, with the need to limit the spread of the virus and the need for people to return to work balanced. “We will follow a phased approach. As we do so, we remain firm in our resolve to contain the virus.

We will need to act with flexibility in the weeks and months ahead.” Ramaphosa committed to addressing the nation again on Thursday, commenting that. “Our country and the world we live in will never be the same again.

We are resolved not merely to return our economy to where it was before the virus, but to forge a new economy in a new world environment.”

Uzalo is the most viewed soapie in South Africa and it has recently beat Generations: The Legacy with viewership with over 9.88 million viewers while Generations was at 9.1 million viewers.

Now, that’s much and one would likely think that the actors are getting paid but sit back and look at the shocking numbers below:

Experienced and main actors of a show are said to earn between R25,000 – R60,000 per month.

Supporting actors and extras are said to earn the least amount of money.

Supporting actors will earn between R1,500 – R5,000 per call. In other instances, they can earn up to R6000 per call, depending on the hours they’ve spent on set working.

Extra’s or random individuals who are required to not speak at all are the least paid and possibly take home R250 to R500 per call.

In an interview on Metro FM, Omuhle Gela admitted that entertainers/actors do not get paid a lot of money; therefore that is why they dabble in a lot of things to ensure they can put food on the table and make an honest living.

We are going to call them by their screen names so it’ll be easier for all of us. Are you ready for it? well, there you go here are the numbers in black and white:

Mangcobo who is the lead actress and long-serving cast member on Uzalo gets between R40k to R55K per month.

SAPS drift king: Video shows cops drifting bravely in police van

SAPS officers were seen rushing to a scene recently – While speeding through a local township, the driver of the SAPS bakkie was seen drifting through the streets – Video footage of the incident went viral and has had a polarising effect.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) officers don’t enjoy the best reputation in South Africa and this was exemplified in a recent Facebook post. South African Live shared a video on Sunday that has garnered a staggering reaction from Facebook users.

The footage shows the driver of a SAPS vehicle speeding and drifting in a street in one of the local townships.

Illovuonline news noted that more than 1 000 comments were shared and many were impressed by the driver’s ability behind the wheel. However, others were critical and highlighted the risk involved, as the vehicle swerved in close proximity to homes and residents.

Mbulelo Ndlangamandla was not at all impressed: “This is reckless and could cause accidents.” Naseen Adams leapt to the defence of the boys in blue: “Obviously they are rushing to a crime scene or catching a suspect! More vans passes before this one ,why do you think the camera man was ready? You really think our officers would drive like this for fun and games.”

Sir-Jaros Olifants was in awe of the cop’s skills: “If you can turn a high suspension Bakkie like that, just know you’re a good driver.”

Drake recognises orphaned dancers who perfectly perform Toosie slide

Masaka Kids Africana decided to be part of Drake’s viral challenge dubbed the Toosie Slide challenge –

The orphaned Ugandan children had no idea luck would knock on their door sooner than they had expected thanks to their electric performance.

The simple yet entertaining clip they shared on Instagram was reposted by Drake and the rapper added a bunch of love hearts to the clip he shared.

Masaka Kids Africana, a group of talented orphaned dancers from Uganda is smiling all the way after US rapper Drake noticed their flawless Toosie Slide routine.

The song that has been ringing in everyone’s mind since its release had people participating in a Toosie challenge that had them doing the “left foot up, right foot slide,” routine like pros.

Illovuonline news learned that Drake who was reposting some of the thousands of videos on his Instagram came across an iconic viral clip by the Masaka kids and could not help but show it to the rest of the world.

He reposted the clip to his Instastory and the young dancers were over the moon when they noticed.

Their hearts were palpitating so fast and the talented children knew for sure they have headed for greater and bigger things thanks to their skills. Their loyal fans celebrated their big step to freedom and reminded the talented children they were worth every recognition they got.

Unlike most videos posted on Instagram, Masaka dancers took a different turn when reliving Drake’s new dance. They added some African spice to the choreography and came up with a new, hip, unique and electric dance.

The group of orphans spiced it up by attaching a couple of traditional moves that set them apart from most of their contenders. Anyone who watches the video and fails to smile or light up is definitely not fun and has no taste in art.

Masaka kids did it again and this time, they did not come to play. Drake brought the internet to a standstill when Toosie Slide made its debut on YouTube. The musician used the song to show off his massive mansion in Canada and everyone marvelled at how everything looked sparkly and expensive.

I feel like I’m in a dark hole – Reality TV star Lasizwe opens up

By: illovuonline news team

Image: Lasizwe/IG

Reality TV star Lasizwe is known for his crazy YouTube skits, but he said on an interview he often struggles with being a public figure and having to put on a brave face amid depressing moments.

In an emotional interview, Lasizwe said he often felt like he is in “a deep, dark hole” and wants to share his experiences with fans in the new season of his reality show in the hope it will help others.

“There’s a big difference between Lasizwe and Thulasizwe Dambuza. This season Thulasizwe is kind of going through a lot in terms of his personal life. He is trying not to affect the Lasizwe life, because Lasizwe is nothing but happiness and pure joy. I don’t want to say much, but that’s what people will see on the show.”

Although the depressing episodes are not yet severe, Lasizwe said he sometimes felt a little lonely and isolated.

“I experience loneliness and isolation, and then I tap out. It’s like a coming and going type of feeling. It’s like you zone out of it, and sometimes you find yourself bouncing back into that feeling.”

“People forget celebrities are human and we have emotions and feelings. The show will see me tapping into a lot of self-discovery which will make me easier to relate with for my audience.”

Lasizwe said the reason he wants to reveal a more vulnerable side to his fans was because there is an illusion he is a happy human being who doesn’t go through stuff.

“I want fans to understand that, yes, I can cheer up everyone and create videos where everyone is laughing and happy, but at the end of the day I am human and I have feelings. I also go through a range of different emotions.”

Lasizwe said his sister, Khanyi Mbau, has been his guardian angel through his testing times.

“Khanyi has been in the industry for more than ten years and she knows the ins and outs more. She has been my guardian angel through my whole journey, as I am kind of dealing with this feeling, this depressed-like moment.

“She knows about the highs and low moments of the entertainment industry so she’s literally my shoulder to cry on. She’s been there for me since day one.”

Police officers arrested for stealing over R30,000 from driver at roadblock

Six officers from Brooklyn and Silverton police stations in Pretoria were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing money during a roadblock.

Naidoo said members of the Mpumalanga provincial Anti-Corruption Unit received information that the officers had stolen more than R30,000 in cash from a group of people passing through a roadblock.

“According to reports, members initially demanded a R100 bribe after realizing the driver of a sedan and two passengers were not in possession of the required documentation.

“The money was allegedly stolen after the sedan was searched at the roadblock,” he said.

All six police officers were arrested after they were found in possession of the money.

In the third incident, an officer was detained after he held a gathering at the police barracks in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

“The arrest of our own is both disheartening and pleasing in the sense that it shows the SA Police Serivce remains unbiased and has the capacity and capability to decisively deal with criminality within its ranks,” said national provincial police commissioner General Khehla Sitole.

– Five SAPS members including a police reservist attached to the Namahadi Police Station in Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State have been arrested

– The cops were taken into custody after they disobeyed the alcohol ban during the national lockdown

– They were caught drinking at a local tavern on Saturday, 18 April

The ban on alcohol has been giving South Africans chest pains, and it appears even police officers are trying to get their hands on some booze.

In an official statement released on Monday, the SAPS confirmed that five police officers working at the Namahadi Police Station in Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State Province were arrested for disregarding the alcohol ban during lockdown.

The statement revealed the five officers, including a police reservist, were allegedly part of a group drinking booze at a tavern on Saturday, 18 April.

“They initially escaped as members were about to pounce on them. However, they were later arrested yesterday, Sunday, 19 April as they reported for duty.”

Photos of the members’ arrest had gone viral on social media and the SAPS management said it’s not “proud” but added the arrest was necessary.

The tavern owner, 44, was also taken into custody for disobeying the regulations on the prohibition of the sale of liquor.

The statement added:

“All liquor was seized and the tavern shut down. The police officials will be charged with defeating the ends of justice and failing to enforce and adhere to the National Disaster Management Regulations.”

The post generated a reaction from both South Africans and other African countries and we took a look at some of the comments.

Twitter user, @mabuza_iam, commented:

“American cops are probably shocked as F right now the level of betrayal.”

Another tweet, @Salih7A, added:

“What a funny country! Police arresting police.”

In a statement issued by National Commissioner of SAPS General Khehla John Sitole, it was revealed that the officers from the Brooklyn and Silverton stations had allegedly stolen R30 000 from a motorist.
